Description

These soft and fluffy cinnamon apple fritters are packed with juicy apple chunks and a hint of warm cinnamon, all topped with a sweet vanilla glaze. Perfect as a breakfast treat, a quick snack, or a cozy dessert, they’re easy to make and absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
  • Cinnamon to taste (about 1 tsp recommended)
  • Vanilla glaze (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan or Dutch oven to 375°F.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples and sprinkle in cinnamon to taste.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly with the back of a spoon. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • While still warm, drizzle with vanilla glaze.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Apple Suggestions: Granny Smith apples provide a nice tartness, while Honeycrisp adds sweetness and a crisp texture.
  • Homemade Vanilla Glaze: Whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tbsp milk, and 1 tsp vanilla extract for a simple glaze.
  • Storage Tips: These fritters are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 day at room temperature or 2-3 days in the fridge. Reheat in the oven for best results.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend for a similar texture.
  • Additional Add-Ins: For extra flavor, consider folding in chopped nuts or raisins.
