Description

Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread combines the classic flavors of saucy, savory sloppy joe filling with the crunch and aroma of freshly baked garlic bread. Crusty baguette halves are brushed with a rich garlic butter, piled high with a sweet and tangy ground beef mixture, topped generously with melty cheese, and broiled until bubbly. Served hot and garnished with fresh parsley, this crave-worthy dish is perfect for quick dinners, game days, or casual get-togethers. It delivers bold flavors and satisfying textures in every bite, making it a family favorite that’s ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette or French bread loaf, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well and let simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter and minced garlic. Brush generously onto the cut sides of the bread halves.
  4. Preheat broiler. Place garlic-buttered bread halves on a baking sheet, cut-side up.
  5. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over both bread halves.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese across the top.
  7. Broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly (watch closely to avoid burning).
  8. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

Substitute ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for beef, or use vegan cheese for a vegetarian version. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat under the broiler or in a toaster oven for best texture. Avoid overbroiling to prevent burning the cheese or bread. If your filling is too thin, cook it a bit longer to thicken. For gluten-free, use a gf baguette. If bread is stale, drizzle lightly with extra butter before assembling.
