Description

Orange Glazed Salmon features tender salmon fillets pan-seared to perfection, then coated in a sweet, savory orange glaze made with fresh orange juice, honey, soy sauce, and garlic. The glaze offers a delightful citrus brightness and rich flavor, enhancing the moist, flaky fish. This recipe is straightforward yet impressive, ideal for weeknight dinners or special occasions. Easy prep, quick cooking, and minimal ingredients make it a go-to dish. Serve with rice or vegetables for a complete, balanced meal that’s both nutritious and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound salmon fillets
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed from about 1 orange)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch whisked with 1 teaspoon water (optional for thicker glaze)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter in large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season salmon fillets with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook salmon skin-side up for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Flip and cook 3-4 minutes until internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  5. Remove salmon and tent with foil to keep warm.
  6. Reduce heat to medium. Whisk together orange juice, honey, soy sauce, garlic, and cornstarch slurry.
  7. Pour glaze mixture into same skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until thickened (30-60 seconds).
  8. Return salmon to skillet and coat with glaze.
  9. Serve immediately with choice of sides.

Notes

For substitutions, try maple syrup instead of honey or tamari in place of soy sauce for gluten-free. Make this ahead by preparing the glaze and refrigerating; reheat gently before serving. Store cooked salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days—reheat gently to maintain texture. If glaze is too thin, simmer longer or add a bit more slurry. For overcooked salmon, reduce searing time. Serve with steamed rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables for variety.
