- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
For the Mashed Potatoes
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the peeled and cubed potatoes. Cook for 15 minutes or until fork-tender.
- Drain the water and return the potatoes to the pot.
- Add 1/4 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of milk, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Mash until creamy and smooth. Cover to keep warm.
- Cook the Steak Bites
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the steak bites with salt and pepper, then sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt 3 tablespoons of butter and add minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Return the steak bites to the skillet, tossing them in the garlic butter. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Serve
- Spoon mashed potatoes onto plates, then top with garlic butter steak bites.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
Notes
- For a dairy-free option, substitute the butter with olive oil or a plant-based alternative, and use almond or oat milk in the mashed potatoes.
- Want to elevate the dish? Add a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese over the mashed potatoes before serving.
- Steak doneness tip: Use a meat thermometer to ensure your steak bites are cooked to your preference (135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium).
- Mashed potatoes can be made ahead and reheated with a splash of milk to restore their creamy texture.
