How to Make Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese

Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 1x

Description

Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese combines two favorite comfort foods into one irresistible dish. Slices of bread are slathered with a flavorful garlic-parsley butter, then filled with a gooey blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses before being toasted until golden brown and crispy on the outside, with a perfectly melted and stretchy center. Ideal for quick meals, snacks, or sides.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine softened butter with garlic powder and dried parsley. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture on one side of each bread slice, making sure to cover edge to edge.
  3. Place two slices butter-side down in a skillet, then distribute mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  4. Cover each with a remaining slice of bread, butter-side up.
  5. Place the sandwiches in a large skillet over low heat.
  6. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crisp.
  7. Carefully flip each sandwich with a wide spatula.
  8. Cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.
  9. Serve immediately while the cheese is melty and stretchy.

Notes

For substitutions, try vegan butter, gluten-free bread, or dairy-free cheeses if needed. You can prep the garlic butter in advance and store in the refrigerator for up to three days. To store leftovers, cool completely and keep in an airtight container; reheat in a skillet for the crispiest results. If the cheese isn’t melting, lower the heat and cover briefly with a lid, or use pre-shredded cheese to speed up melting. Avoid high heat to prevent burning.
