- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Notes
For substitutions, use turkey or vegetarian bacon for a lighter or meatless dish, and swap red onion for white or yellow onion. This recipe can be made ahead—prepare up to a day in advance and reheat before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. If beans are too thick after baking, add a splash of water or broth. For sweeter beans, increase brown sugar or molasses; for tangier flavor, slightly increase mustard or Worcestershire.
