Description

This easy Banana Matcha Latte blends vibrant matcha powder with creamy banana-infused milk, sweetener, and a touch of vanilla for a refreshing and nourishing drink. The recipe uses hot water to whisk the matcha and a blender for the milk and banana, creating a frothy, layered beverage. Optional brûléed banana garnish adds an elegant finish, making it perfect for quick breakfasts and energizing afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4g matcha powder (about 2 teaspoons)
  • 50g hot water (175°F or 79°C), about ¼ cup
  • 120g milk of your choice, about ½ cup
  • 1 tablespoon overripe banana
  • 510g sugar (about 12 teaspoons)
  • Tiny splash of vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sift matcha powder into a bowl to prevent clumping.
  2. Add hot water (175°F) and whisk briskly in a W motion for 20 seconds until frothy.
  3. Lift the whisk higher and gently whisk out larger bubbles for micro foam (optional).
  4. Blend half the milk with banana, sugar, and optional vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Pour the banana milk mixture into a glass over ice and add remaining milk.
  6. Pour the whisked matcha over the banana milk mixture.
  7. Optional: Garnish with a brûléed banana slice by sprinkling sugar on a banana slice and torching until caramelized.

Notes

Substitute dairy milk with oat, almond, or soy milk for a dairy-free option. Use honey or maple syrup for a natural sweetener alternative. Prepare banana milk in advance and store in the fridge for up to one day. For best results, use overripe bananas for extra sweetness and creaminess. If your matcha clumps, sift it well before whisking. For a smoother texture, strain the blended mixture before combining. If you don’t have a torch, brûléed garnish can be skipped.
