Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced or pureed
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or white wine
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season shrimp with paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook seasoned shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes per side until opaque and cooked through. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Reduce heat to medium, melt butter in the same skillet.
- Add minced garlic, sauté for 1 minute until aromatic.
- Stir in chicken broth or white wine; simmer 2 to 3 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Pour in heavy cream; mix thoroughly.
- Add Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and optional red pepper flakes; simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Return cooked shrimp to skillet, tossing to coat in sauce.
- Simmer for 2 minutes on low heat until shrimp are heated through.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
Substitute half-and-half for heavy cream for a lighter sauce, or use plant-based cream for dairy-free. Swap white wine for chicken broth for a non-alcoholic option. Cook shrimp just until opaque to avoid toughness. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days; reheat gently to prevent sauce from separating. If sauce curdles, whisk in extra cream over low heat to restore smoothness.
